Ecoplexus Announces Two of the Largest Solar + Energy Storage System’s in the United States

San Francisco,  CA (Sep 28, 2019) – Ecoplexus Inc. (“Ecoplexus”), a global renewable energy developer today announced that it has been chosen by Duke Energy to develop the largest solar plus energy storage projects ever built in North Carolina and some of the largest in the United States. The Oakboro and Westminster Solar & Energy Storage Centers will have 180MWs of solar arrays with multi hour Li-Ion battery energy storage capabilities. Oakboro and Westminster’s power will be dispatchable; able to provide power throughout Duke Energy’s summer and winter peak times. The projects were developed by Ecoplexus, and will construct, own and operate them. The Company  expects a total investment requirement of $215 million for the projects.

These two Solar Centers will have an annual production capacity of over 306 gigawatt hours (GWh) once complete, enough energy for more than 60,000 homes, and will also reduce carbon emissions by more than 200,000 metric tons each year. Subject to final approval by the Public Utilities Commission of North Carolina, the projects will commence construction in 2020, and be operational by the middle of 2021.

Total investment is expected to be $150 million. The projects are a set of ground-mounted solar facilities, providing clean energy to offset greenhouse gas emissions and reduce energy costs for ratepayers in those areas.

The portfolio will provide approximately 150 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually. That is enough to annually power almost 10,000 households, or offset roughly 10,000 metric tons of Carbon Dioxide.

“We are pleased to play a role in satisfying the United States growing demand for clean energy,” said John Gorman, CEO of Ecoplexus. “The United States continues to set a great example for other countries to follow, and we are eager to continue to support efforts to decarbonize across the country going forward.”

Ecoplexus Commences Construction on 66MWs of Solar Energy Centers in United States

San Francisco, February 28, 2019 – Ecoplexus Inc., a leading global developer and owner of renewable energy projects, announced today that it has commenced construction on 66 MWs of additional solar energy centers in the United States. These projects represent a combined investment of more than $80 million. These facilities have long term offtake agreements with Duke Energy and Dominion Energy.

These projects will be added to Ecoplexus’ growing in house developed and constructed IPP asset base, with joint investments from equity and tax equity strategic partners. Ecoplexus Inc. will provide ongoing asset management and operations and maintenance services for all the facilities.

These projects will provide 112 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually. That is enough to power 13,000 homes and prevent the carbon dioxide emission of roughly 10 million gallons of gasoline, in effect taking 15,000 passenger vehicles off the road.
